We set our standard mercury UV lamps at 120W/cm because it’s the sweet spot. It gives you enough punch to cure inks and coatings at high speeds without accidentally frying your substrate.
The reality of 120W/cm power
Here is the deal: we’ve balanced the gas pressure and electrode load inside the quartz tube to get this specific power density. For you, that means you can either crank up the conveyor speed or shorten your belts to save floor space. But there’s a catch. Pushing that much energy into a small space getshot. If your cooling fans or water jackets can’t keep up, you’re going to kill your lamp life or, worse, warp the quartz. Just make sure your cooling is up to the task.
The gear inside
We use high-purity fused quartz for the envelope. Why? Because we want as much UV light as possible to get through without getting trapped. The mercury discharge does the heavy lifting, hitting those UVC and UVB ranges. And we kept the connectors standard. You can just pop these in as replacements.
